We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Ben Jensen as CEO of PhovIR.

PhovIR is a hugely exciting, high-potential start-up developing next-generation MEMS-based spectroscopy solutions for material analysis.
Having already shipped their first demonstrator products to customers, Ben joins a talented founder-led team, with a significant market opportunity ahead, as it enters an important next stage of growth.
Ben brings an exceptional track record as a serial deep-tech business builder. Most recently, as CEO of 2D Photonics, he has been leading the scale-up of advanced graphene-based photonics technology. This includes securing a significant €25m investment and €211m in public funding to support the development of next-generation optical technology for AI infrastructure.
Prior to this, Ben founded Surrey NanoSystems, where he led the development and commercialisation of Vantablack. This is one of the world’s best-known innovations in advanced materials, taking highly differentiated nanomaterials technology into demanding applications across sectors such as space, defence, optical instrumentation and automotive sensing.
Ben's proven ability to build category-defining deep-tech companies, combined with his technical depth, fundraising experience, and commercial judgement, makes him exceptionally well placed to lead PhovIR through its next phase of growth.
It has been a pleasure working with the PhovIR team and investor group on this appointment, and getting to know Ben through the process.
Congratulations to all — we’re excited to see what you achieve together!
